Bronx, NY, June 15, 2016 – On Friday, June 3, State Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson and Healthfirst hosted the annual Educational Leadership Breakfast at Eastwood Manor. Approximately 150 attendees gathered to recognize and celebrate the unwavering dedication and commitment of the superintendents, principals, parent coordinators, and parent leaders of the 36th Senate District. More than 120 parent leaders received certificates of appreciation recognizing their contributions to their local schools.
“Educators play an important role in nurturing young minds,” said Senator Hassell-Thompson in what was her final Educational Leadership Breakfast. The senator was recently appointed by New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo to serve as special adviser for policy and community affairs of New York State Homes and Community Renewal.
In her keynote speech Senator Hassell-Thompson discussed the importance of a unified partnership and effort between parents and educators to foster scholastic excellence in every child. She closed by highlighting the remarkable achievements and positive contributions of the parent leaders to their school districts.
This event was the finale for the 2016 Educational Leadership Breakfast series which commends the leadership, excellence, and commitment of educational leaders who provide invaluable guidance to young people on their educational journeys.
