NEW YORK, NY, October 9, 2014 – Healthfirst has received a 4-Star quality rating (out of five) for its Medicare Advantage plan from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) today, distinguishing it as the highest rated and only 4-Star Medicare Advantage HMO plan in New York City. The rating is for the 2015 plan year that runs from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015.
CMS evaluates Medicare Advantage plans nationally based on a 5-Star rating system, with 5 Stars reflecting the highest quality. Calculated each year, Star ratings may change from one year to the next. The Star ratings assess quality and member satisfaction through more than 40 measures in categories that include staying healthy, managing chronic (long-term) conditions, member experience with the health plan, number of member complaints, overall customer service, and quality of pharmacy benefits.
“We are extremely pleased to have earned this recognition of the quality and member satisfaction afforded by our Medicare Advantage plan,” said Pat Wang, Chief Executive Officer. “4 Stars, coupled with our ranking as the top quality Medicaid plan in New York City and Long Island, is a tangible symbol of our unwavering, laser focus on ensuring superior healthcare and best-in-class customer service for our members.”
