Healthfirst Launches Health & Wellness Expo in Queens

Reinforces Company’s Deep Commitment to Serving the People of Long Island by Bringing Expertise Closer to the Community
NEW YORK, NY – Healthfirst, the largest non-profit health insurance company in New York City, announces the launch of the Health & Wellness Expo in the borough of Queens on Saturday, October 13, at the Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement, from 11am to 6pm. This highly anticipated event is expected to attract more than 2,500 attendees and offer an interactive and informative wellness experience.
“I’m excited to launch the 2018 Health & Wellness Expo in Queens to share critical resources, educate the community, and provide proactive steps towards leading a healthy lifestyle,” said George Hulse, Healthfirst Vice President of Community Engagement. “Healthfirst is deeply committed to serving the borough of Queens. As we celebrate more than 25 years of service to New Yorkers, we will continue to address common health issues—like diabetes and heart disease—that are preventable with access to quality care and support.”
Public Advocate Letitia James will be the featured keynote speaker at a Town Hall on Healthcare, from 9am to 11am, at the Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement. Influential health experts and prominent elected officials will lead an open forum on preventive care and how to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
Immediately following the Town Hall, there will be a free Health & Wellness Expo from 11am to 6pm. The Health & Wellness Pavilion will offer free medical screenings, prizes and giveaways, fresh smoothie samples, and fitness workshops.
In celebration of this inaugural event, there will be a special appearance by VH1 Love & Hip Hop’s Yandy Smith. There will also be live performances by the legendary Roxanne Shante and rhythm & blues quartet Tru Sol.
Additional sponsors and supporters of the 2018 Health & Wellness Expo include The Floating Hospital, Queensbridge Tenant Resident Association, Flushing Hospital Medical Center, and the Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement.
