Prominent Medical Experts and Elected Officials Promote Community Wellness in the Bronx
BRONX, NY, May, 2017 Healthfirst proudly presents the launch of their annual Health & Wellness Expo on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Claremont Healthy Village, from 11am to 6pm. This increasingly popular event is expected to attract more than 2,500 attendees and to generate heightened awareness on pressing health matters affecting the community.
“I’m excited to launch the 2017 Health & Wellness Expo series to share critical resources, educate the community, and provide proactive steps towards leading a healthy lifestyle,” said George Hulse, Healthfirst Vice President of Community Engagement. “We want to foster an open and engaging dialogue on common health issues—like diabetes and heart disease—that are preventable with access to quality care and support.”
The 55th Governor of New York David Paterson will kick-off the Expo with a town hall from 8am-12pm at the Charles Drew School. The session will feature a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Susan Beane, Healthfirst Vice President and Medical Director. Influential health experts and local elected officials will lead a discussion on how to effectively manage diabetes and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
The Expo continues into the afternoon at the Gouverneur Playground. The Health & Wellness Pavilion will offer free medical screenings, prizes and giveaways, massage therapists, fresh smoothie samples, and fitness workshops. There will also be a live concert by Rhythm & Blues quartets Tru Sol and Legacy.
Healthfirst aims to create a premier indoor and outdoor wellness experience in an interactive and informative setting. This Expo allows us and our partners to address the health needs of the communities we serve. Additional sponsors of the Health & Wellness Expo include Claremont Neighborhood Center Inc., Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, New York City Housing Authority, and William Hodson Senior Center.
