Prominent Medical Experts and Elected Officials Unite in Bedford-Stuyvesant to Promote Family Health and Community Wellness
BROOKLYN, NY, July 7, 2016 – Healthfirst and its community partners proudly present their annual Health & Wellness Expo on Saturday, July 23 at the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza. This summer expo is free, family-friendly, and open to the public from 11am-5pm. This highly-anticipated event is expected to attract thousands of attendees and generate awareness on pressing health matters affecting the community.
“We are proud to host the Healthfirst Health & Wellness Expo with our sponsors, local leaders, and health providers to share and promote the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle,” said George Hulse, Healthfirst Vice President of Community Engagement. “We want to bring the community together to heighten awareness on common health issues prevalent in the African-American and Hispanic populations that are preventable through access to care and proper support,” said Mr. Hulse.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams will convene the town hall breakfast moderated by Susan Beane, MD, Healthfirst Vice President and Medical Director. Top health experts and local elected officials will lead a health panel discussion on Family Health and Communities. The breakfast will be held from 8am-11am.
The Health & Wellness Expo continues into the afternoon at the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza. The Kids Zone will offer face painting and live entertainment from the New York Aquarium, Prospect Park Zoo, and the Brooklyn Museum.
Continuing Healthfirst’s longstanding commitment to identifying and responding to communities’ health needs in a proactive manner, the Expo’s mission is to create a premier health and wellness experience in an interactive, informative, and safe environment. This expo enables Healthfirst and our partner hospitals, corporations, and organizations to engage communities in health screenings and nutritional and exercise programs, educating them on the benefits of these partnerships.
