Pat Wang, Healthfirst’s CEO, recently visited Senator Charles E. Schumer to thank him for his support of quality healthcare in New York and to discuss issues facing Healthfirst and other Medicare Advantage (MA) plans that serve urban areas. Senator Schumer, who sits on the Senate Finance Committee which oversees Medicare and Medicaid, has a long and committed record of highly effective support for healthcare issues. A high priority issue for Healthfirst is to level the playing field between MA plans that serve lower income beneficiaries and plans that serve more affluent communities when competing for Stars ratings and quality bonuses. “We greatly appreciated the opportunity to thank Senator Schumer personally for all he has done for health care in New York and the nation, and for his support of Healthfirst and our work,” said Ms. Wang. “We look forward to working with him to ensure that all New Yorkers get the healthcare they deserve.”
